WHAT ARE OUR AIMS?
The multiplication of stray cats in Charente Maritime needs to be reduced,
therefore we encourage the neutering of semi-wild or wild cats,
encourage owners to neuter their own
pets, arrange adoption and give advice
on re-homing.
NEUTERING of STRAY
CATS
This process involves catching stray cats with a humane trap although some may be
friendly enough to catch by hand, including abandoned domestic
cats.
We advise that they
then be taken to local vets who will carry out blood testing
and neutering.
Then, after a few days
recovery, they should be released on familiar ground where they were
captured.
Those that are adoptable will be
found homes.
We encourage the neutering of stray cats
by offering subsidies, but first click on
rehoming.
MAINTENANCE When a neutered cat has been released we encourage feeding
them during Winter - the cost of which we may subsidise. This will maintain a healthy population
of neutered cats which will help with rodent control during the Summer.
Over a period of time stray cat numbers will drop due to
non-breeding.

Neutered female cats, living wild, with access to
a regular winter food supply.
NEUTERING of DOMESTIC PET
CATS
We encourage owners of domestic cats to neuter their
pets because serious diseases pass between pet and stray cats,
resulting in suffering
and death in both populations,
as well as producing
unwanted kittens
- WHICH MUST STOP!
We encourage neutering
by offering subsidies towards the veterinary
fees.
ADOPTION
Abandoned domestic pets,
and friendly adult strays will need re-homing, including their kittens. If you want to adopt see our adoption page.
RE-HOMING
If you find cats/kittens in your garden and you
need advice/information about what to do about
them see re-homing or
contact
us.
