ARTHRITIS
Ten year old Sam developed
an arthritic
hip which completely
immobilised him, but made a complete recovery without
any sign of a limp!
He had a operation, claimed to be 100%
successful, which
consists of dislocating the hip joint permanently. During the healing process the leg/hip muscles, which are very strong, tighten their grip on the dislocated thigh
bone and hold it firmly in position.
The pain threshold increases for a while
during the healing process, which may take several weeks, and then reduces rapidly
to zero.
When Sam was collected from the vet, several hours after the operation, he climbed the stairs with a dislocated
hip with no difficulty
at all as soon as he got home!
