RE-HOMING Note - Unfortunately our association is not a refuge and nor can we pay to have
all the stray cats in Charente Maritime neutered - we would if we could - so we look to you to take
on the responsibility, including financial responsibility, for the cat that
takes up residence in your garden.
Charente Maritime refuges do not have the capacity to cope for all
these cats.
Bearing that in mind WE CAN HELP RE-HOME
:-
-
An abandoned pet cat or a
friendly adoptable semi-wild cat, male or female which has taken up residence in your garden,
and,
-
the kittens of any mother cat which has taken
up residence in your garden.
HOW CAN THIS BE DONE?
-
A friendly adult cat can be set up for
adoption via our web-site & other English/French web-sites. But you act as foster parent until the cat is
adopted.
And we encourage you to have the cat neutered
before adoption.
- Kittens can be rehomed in the same
way, via our website, but first they should be humanised - by feeding them, fondling them and
talking to them - so that they become friendly, ready for adoption. Again you act as foster parents until adoption
day. Kittens are quick to
learn!
We encourage
you to have the mother neutered when the kittens are around 6-8 weeks old before she
becomes pregnant again.
-
The
friendly mother (now neutered) will be ready for adoption, but the
less friendly mother (now neutered) can be released - see what we say
about maintenance
of released cats.
-
Generally, any unfriendly
adult male or female should be caught, neutered & released.
If necessary we can supply and set up a trap for you - see our aims. See
also subsidies.
