RESCUED
'LES AMIS DES ANIMAUX' - with 'La Protection des Chats' assisting - decided to take action when an English resident, living between Aulnay & Matha, became ill and was unable to care for 16 stray cats/kittens which lived in and around her house and out-buildings.

Four motherless kittens, about 2/3 weeks old, including a friendly junior cat, were taken into care by 'La Protection des Chats', for raising and adoption.

The remaining 11 adult cats were then caught, some easily, others with humane traps, and taken to a local vet for neutering (at half cost). Unhappily two cats were found to be terminally ill and were humanely put to sleep.

Nine healthy neutered adult cats have now been released back into to their home territory and volunteers will feed them until such time that re-homing can be arranged. See brief VIDEO  You can see these nine cats on our Cat Adoption Page

NOTE:-
Five of these stray cats were female and would have been be responsible for the production of 10,000 kittens/cats over the next three years, by the end of 2012, if they had not been neutered!

We give special thanks to a local vet who was extremely helpful and co-operative at this time when she was understaffed / overworked. Due to strict advertising regulations imposed by the Conseil Regional de l'Ordre de Veterinaires/Poitou Charentes her clinic cannot be named...except over the 'phone by ringing 'La Protection des Chats'...05 46 91 64 76.
