"God created the cat so that Man may
know
the pleasure of caressing the tiger."
Fernand Mery (1897 - 1984) French
writer.

TOM
CAT
He came in a box when he was a kitten,
We called him Tawny, and at once were smitten.
Tawny ruled our house, caught many a mouse,
Slept in anyone’s bed, broke crockery,
Clawed carpet and upholstery.
When screamed at simply cocked his ears,
And against all our fears,
He serviced every local feline.
How could we ever malign
Such a fine Tom
Cat?
All his life he
created endless commotion,
But always gave us
excessive devotion.
And when at last
his life was ended,
All his little
sins amended,
We placed him
again in a box one night,
Said a prayer by
candle light,
And as a symbol of
our cats desire,
We ignited his body with
fire,
For he was such a fine Tom
Cat.
